Sat Nav: Use our postcode, but it won’t take you to the door, hence map above.

What3Words: ‘///putty.joints.dancer’ gets you to the top of our drive

From the North: Normally I would say M56, M53 and A55 etc… through Wales, as this is the most direct route but it takes ages (unless you are on a motorbike of course), so personally I recommend staying on M6 longer and then cut across later. Staying with the A44 to Aberystwyth and then follow the coast road to Aberaeron is a better bet than the Devils Bridge route.

From the Midlands/East Anglia: If approaching via Birmingham M5/M42 area you have essentially two choices, the obvious one for those north of Birmingham is via the M54, Shrewsbury, Welshpool, Newtown route (although Good chippy ‘Evans Fish Bar’ at Llanidloes) and this way is picturesque, but can be slow once you have passed Shrewsbury. Plus I would suggest staying on the A44 to Aberystwyth, as opposed to approaching via Devils Bridge, which is very pretty but slow and narrow in places.

As a personally preferred alternative, I would suggest the M5 south, M50, A40, A482 route, yes it’s slightly longer but it’s less painful and takes a similar time, plus Monmouth North Services are a good stop, as is Raglan Castle* a good stop off for the return journey. Best to come through Lampeter itself and head west on the A475 to Drefach (most Sat Nav seems to take you via Talley for some reason). As a guide about 4 hours from north Northamptonshire (A14).

From the South: Simply follow the M4 till you fall off the end, continue to Carmarthen, then head north on A40 then A485 to Llanybydder. Turning left at the crossroads just after Romino’s cafe, follow road down and over the river Teifi and left after the bridge at the mini roundabout, follow B4338 too Drefach. As a guide allow about 3 hours from Swindon.
